On the road again…

Well, we went home for what was supposed to be about a week and it turned into almost 2 weeks due to flu season.  After avoiding it for 41 years I finally experienced the flu, or what I figure would probably be the flu.  I had some body aches, fever, and a sore throat. I was treated with Tamiflu and that knocked it out in less than 2 days, so that’s pretty awesome.

I’m feeling great and we’re finally on our way to Big Bend National Park!  We did get a super late start yesterday, which put us in Big Spring at Whip In RV Park around midnight.  Our trip was fairly uneventful, except for the drunk driver in front of us while passing through Abilene.  When will people learn they’re not invincible?  So stupid!

I did find this little gem at a rest area…

haha..nah,really?

We didn’t get much sleep, but we’re awake and ready to roll!!! It’s almost 11:00am and we’re in the truck heading southwest to Marfa.  Our first stop is Fort Davis. This town has a population of about 1200 and literally shuts down around 6:00pm most nights. Most shops aren’t open on Wednesdays, except a Mexican restaurant where we had dinner our first night.  There isn’t much to do here, but we’re enjoying the quiet.  🙂

By far the coolest thing happening in Fort Davis

A sign on the fence of an elementary school…awesome.

Until next time, folks…in Marfa.  😉
