Fort Worth, Texas is where it all began. Yep, Will and I were born there, even in the same hospital! Ok, enough of that. The Nicholsons went home for a visit!
June and July were full of family, friends (old and new), cookouts, swimming, and even fireworks.
The first thing we did was surprise my sister-in-law for her 30th birthday. She had no clue we were doing anything for her…and BAM! We showed up. Actually, her mom flew in from Florida, too…also a surprise. Yeah, we’re sneaky. 😉
Cousin shenanigans…
My brother, Shawn and his buddies have been floating down the Guadalupe River every summer for years. He has invited Will for the last few years and he’d never been able to go…until now. Since Will didn’t have anything stopping him (i.e. work, clients, etc…), he decided to join the guys on the float trip! I’m really happy he was able to do this. Sometimes the guy just needs to relax. I think he had a good time. 🙂
We also were able to spend a little time with Halle and Michael! We met them in Denton for dinner and a ghost tour, which was very cool. The tour guide was a fun lady. It was nice spending time with the kiddos! Yep, y’all are still kiddos. 😉
One of the highlights was going to the Fort Worth Zoo with Mom, Halle, and Escher. Escher is such a funny kid! It was so awesome spending time with him. Can y’all believe he’s 11?!?! Goodness, he’s growing a bit too fast! 🙂
We really couldn’t decide what to do for Independence Day, so Meema suggested Concerts in the Garden in Fort Worth. It was really fun except it wasn’t the best concert we had seen there. There was a soloist who was OK, and she didn’t sing patriotic songs…maybe one. Oh well, it was still a good time. 🙂
We had a couple of cookouts, too! One was a housewarming for family at Shawn and Katelyn’s new home. The other was mom’s birthday.
There was also swimming! Ok, the guys had a float trip, so the wives decided there needed to be a couples float trip. That didn’t really work very well because the river was too low to float. Well, we didn’t let that stop us. I was determined to get in water, and as it turns out, Shawn’s and Katelyn’s new house is about a mile from the lake! We found a little beach and had a lake day! It was fantastic! We had so much fun with old and new friends!
There was another day at Concerts in the Garden. STAR WARS, which was AMAZING!!! We did this with our friends Katy, Sam, and their two boys. Sam and Will have literally known each other their entire lives. We hung out with them and their whole family one night. We had a blast. I bet it was great for Will to see most of them since it had been so long. The last time I saw them was 10 years ago at our wedding. The Hobbs family are good people, for sure. Just so y’all know, Sam, Kristin, and Paul are siblings. 🙂
We were fortunate enough to be in town to see my Uncle Bill from Utah and my Aunt Cokie from New Mexico. They’re my Meema’s youngest siblings. It’s been five years since we saw them, so it was so wonderful to have that opportunity!
Now, do you remember the kitten? Of course you do. That kitten followed us around while we were walking our dogs one night at the RV park. We looked around for a mama cat, with no luck, and never heard from anyone who might have lost a kitten. Of course, we were in Briar, so it’s very common for animals to be abandoned…so sad. There is no telling where that kitten came from. It was late so we took her to my mom until we could get her to the vet the next morning. By the next morning my mom had decided to keep her since she is obviously adorable! We also learned that she’s healthy and about 7 weeks old at the time we found her. That worked out great because it made her birthday right around May 4. For the non Star Wars fans, that would be Star Wars day…May the 4th be with you. 😉 So, allow me to introduce Tessie May…
She’s a cutie, right? She’s growing so fast. She’s going to be huge when we see her again! 🙂 I’m so glad we found her a good home.
Here are a few random photos from our visit…enjoy!
Oh, and we couldn’t come home and not visit the furbutts!!!!
We had so much fun being home but we were excited to get back on the road! Next stop…Sturgis, South Dakota!
