The desert. Yuma. Whatever you want to call it…

Hello again!  Hmmm…what can I say about Yuma, AZ?  Not much.  The best part about this extremely hot and humid city is my Aunt Lora, but I’ll get to her in a min. 🙂   When we arrived at our destination it looked and felt like a ghost town.  Since this was May, all of the snow birds had gone home for the summer.  We stayed at The Cocopah RV and Golf Resort, which is literally on the edge of CA, AZ, and even Mexico.  I probably could have thrown a rock and hit the people at the fiesta across the border.  I’m not even kidding. How do I know they were having a fiesta?  Well, there was definitely some kind of partying going on!  😉  Anyway, the resort was really neat.  It was ENORMOUS!!!!!  It had every amenity imaginable…a pool/hot tub with a tiki bar attached, workout room, golf course with a pro shop, a restaurant, and even a recreation hall for different events.  We were one of about 5 people actually staying there so we almost had the place to ourselves.  It took me at least 10 mins to walk to the gym everyday, so that was great for my Fitbit! Also, we only paid $20/night, which is fantastic in the world of RVing!

So, back to my Aunt Lora.  Like I said, she is the best part about this place.  Her hubby is stationed here, so they’re stuck here for a bit. Lora came over to the resort one day to swim with me.  We had a blast!!!  We hadn’t seen each other in a while and it was so awesome to spend time with her.  We had the BEST Aunt/Niece girl day!

Later that night Will and I went to dinner with her, which was so fun!  We ate at this neat local restaurant with a resident peacock.  This peacock’s name was John Henry and apparently the owner of the restaurant has an animal sanctuary, and she rescues all kinds. I think John Henry was found near the highway and she took him in.  Oh, he’s beautiful…and very friendly, as long as you have food.  He likes chicken.  😛  He’s also stubborn.  We heard that a lot of customers will take pics with him and he’s usually up for a photo-op.  Well, I decided I really needed a photo with this beautiful bird.  As I walked up to him, he turned away from me and spread his feathers, and every time I went around to get a selfie with him he would just keep pivoting so I couldn’t see his face.  It was actually hilarious! Such a personality!

Totally was not expecting that! lol
Trying to get him to cooperate. 😀

The last thing we did in Yuma was celebrate our anniversary.  Can y’all believe it?  Our 10th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!  We opted to golf, and I learned that I’ve been golfing wrong all these years…lol.  Not really “wrong”, but I wasn’t rotating my body enough, and I must say it feels so much better when doing it correctly!  😀 You’d think after golfing off and on for over 20 years I’d know…duh.  It’s all good, and now I can improve my game and have more fun playing! With that said, I was never horrible…just not great. 😉  We played a round of golf in 120º….yes, it was almost unbearable but we made it through all 18 holes without dying of heat exhaustion.  If there is one thing Texans can handle it’s heat!  However, dry heat is a bit different for us!  Thank goodnessfor bottled water…and A/C in the 5th wheel!

Lora had recommended a local pizza place, so we thought we’d check it out for our anniversary dinner because we’re so fancy!!! It was yummy!  Thanks for the suggestion, Aunt Lora!!!  <3

Happy 10th Anniversary to us!

Moral of the story…you can actually have a good time in Yuma, AZ, if you’re with the right people. 😛
