Antique shops, pizza, and country music

Fredericksburg and Luckenbach, TX

Well, I’ve always heard good things about Fredericksburg, and I can honestly say that it’s a very neat little town in the southern-ish part of Texas.  It’s known for its antique shops but we didn’t shop.  We did, however, visit The Pacific History Museum, which was very nice…and thorough.  I will say that it wasn’t executed as well as the WWII Museum in NOLA…now THAT was amazing!  The Pacific was definitely still interesting, but it was mostly just a ton of information in article form…if that makes sense.  Remember, I’m not patient enough to read all that.  😛

For me, the coolest thing about the museum was the special fashion exhibit. It was only there for a few days and it just happened to be in the same week we were visiting! It was fate!  I’m not sure how many of you know this about me, but fashion of the 1940s is my absolute favorite!!!

So, we walked around the little German town and ate some really great pizza.  As most of y’all know, I’m extremely picky, and not a huge fan of pizza, but dang if that wasn’t some of the best pizza!!! The restaurant with that awesome pizza is called Sozial Haus and it’s really cool because it’s in an old house from the 1850s.  It actually still has the original wood floors, so that was neat…and very creaky.  😉

We stayed at yet another RV park called Hill Country RV.  Now this was NOT a resort, like the other one.

It was definitely more on the “trailer park” side, but it was inexpensive and fairly quiet.  We figured it wouldn’t matter much since we weren’t going to be there too long.  How much is there really to do in Fredericksburg?

One day we decided to head on over to the place where everybody is somebody.  You guessed it!!! We traveled the 10 minutes or so to Luckenback, TX!  The “town” consists of an old (former) U.S. Post Office, which is now a gift shop and bar, a dance hall, and a stage.  Population 3.  Now I’m not really sure how accurate that is, but I don’t know if more than 3 people could fit in the town.  It was a very cool experience.  We’ve always wanted to see what Waylon and Willie had been talking about all those years ago.  😛
