Starting a new chapter…

For those of you who haven’t heard, Wilson and I sold our amazing 7 acre property, bought a beautiful RV (5th wheel), and have decided to travel the country for a while. (Before you ask, yes…we’re probably crazy) The plan is to come home in a year or so and buy our dream home on a Texas sized piece of property with an awesome home and pool! But for now…

Our first destination is Azle, TX, which is only 15 mins from our old house in Boyd.  I know what you’re thinking…Azle? Seriously? Why Azle? Well, we still have a few odds and ends to tie up before we hit the road! 😉  We initially paid for a week then added another week because we weren’t ready to leave just yet. It’s a nice, quiet community, and the residents are friendly.  Most people seem to have been here quite a while and have even built decks and porches off their RVs.  What better way to live than on a lake? Oops, I forgot to mention that.  This RV park is called West Bay Marina.  We have a view of the lake that is quite lovely!

We’ve only been at this for a little over a week now, but our daily routine has changed a bit already.  We don’t have room for the sheep, goat, Pyrenees, and the pig…obviously.  Casper (the Pyrenees), 5 sheep, and Charlotte (the pig) stayed with the home.  Could you imagine us having a pig in the RV?  It can only handle so much weight.  😉 Our friends (y’all) should know us well enough to know that we would NEVER just abandon our animals, but Casper has never lived anywhere else and separating him from his herd could traumatize him. We decided the best thing to do was to introduce him to a new family.  We couldn’t move the pig if we tried! She kind of belongs to the neighborhood anyway.  My friend Jean says I should have named her “Gypsy”.  🙂 However, we have found a temporary home for my funny little goat, Frankie, and Will’s baby girl, Darlin’. They’ll be staying with a friend for the year we’re gone then come to live with us at the new place.  I know they’ll be very well cared for and loved by Sarah.  She is also their vet, after all.  😉 As for our little fur-babies joining us on the adventure, it has already proved to be an (for lack of a better word)…adventure.  They have to be leashed every time they go out, which is a learning experience for them…and us!  Living in the country allowed us to open the door and just let them run.  Not anymore!  Thankfully, they’re very well behaved, but Maximus hasn’t quite figured out the leash.  He tends to wrap himself around my legs. With that said, he walks by my side without the leash, but rules are rules…and I’m a rule follower! Cowboy has a few issues walking but he’s blind.  The poor guy can’t see more than a foot in front of him but he does very well, considering.  Clark is a Pomeranian…enough said.  LOL  Starla Moon (Will’s cat) is doing well, of course…she is the queen of everywhere.  🙂

As for our living situation, it’s going to take some getting used to.  It’s a good thing that Will and I get along so well and enjoy each other so much! We’re fairly comfortable with the living area, but the garage/my future craft area still needs a LOT of work! Will is still working on getting his computers out of there and condensing those as much as possible so he can work on the road.  I can see my sewing/embroidery machine but can’t get to it at the moment. I look forward to all the places we’ll see but while Will is working I’ll be crafting anything and everything I can get my hands on.

So, now that you’re all caught up, I’ll go for now and let all of that sink in. lol

Side note: I’ve learned since writing this that we weren’t actually in Azle, but Pelican Bay, TX.  I’ve lived in this wonderful state my entire life and I’ve never heard of that.  Wow…learn something new everyday, right?  lol  Not that this really matters, but I wanted to throw that out there.  It’s gotta be my OCD…

Until next week…unless something interesting happens before then!

  1. Great post, and great blog! Looking forward to keeping up with your adventures. The leash thing will get easier, and you’ll find some places don’t care as much as others about that rule. Plus, I think dogs love when you the pack leaders going everywhere with them.

  2. Hope y’all head back to Tarrant County from wherever you go next to see me at Thanksgiving! 😁

  3. Who is Kacie?
