Saaaaan Aaaaaaantonio!!!
What a beautiful city! Well, not the city, exactly, but the Riverwalk sure is pretty! As if you haven’t guessed, our next stop was San Antonio. Will and I had been there, but never together. That’s what he gets for working too much, which is a big reason we decided to take this RV adventure. The Alamo is always so amazing. No matter how many times I go, it always fascinates me. I absolutely love history, and there is SO much history there. Not only is it part of U.S. history, but it’s Texas history.
We parked at…
It wasn’t fancy but had everything we needed for a nice stay not too far from the city. To avoid parking at the Riverwalk, we decided to take the bus, which was really convenient since there was a bus stop right in front of the RV park. 🙂 It only cost $5.50 for an all day bus pass (for both of us), so that was a great deal…and saved us from spending most of the day looking for a parking spot. I sat in a very historical seat…(Yes, I do realize this isn’t the actual seat, but it’s still pretty cool. I wrote a paper in high school on Rosa Parks!!!)
We spent two days there and it was surprisingly busy during the week. Don’t you ever wonder why so many people are driving in the middle of the day? Or how can there be so many people shopping during regular working hours? I am always thinking, “Do none of these people have jobs?” lol Of course, they’re probably wondering that about us. 😉
We walked the Riverwalk, ate some pretty decent food, bought chocolate that neither of us really needed, but oh, it was so gooooooood.
We also bought “chocolate” frosted milk bones for the furbabies (no, it wasn’t real chocolate). We watched a show about the Alamo at the IMAX. That was really intense. I just always get so emotional about things like that. We found a bogo coupon for the audio tour for the Alamo and since we’d never done that, we thought we’d try it. It was definitely $7 well spent! Sometimes I don’t want to read everything…I’m too impatient for that. ha! I think we each got a lot out of that tour. The only thing I wish was a little different is allowing people to speak inside the church. Ok, I understand that you want to talk to your family/friends about what you see, but shouldn’t there be a volume limit? I mean, it is a sacred place. Men died there for our freedom and I just believe we should have a little more respect. Just a thought. 🙂
What those men did for our country was so brave and selfless.
We saw a few crazies while walking around, but that seems to be fairly common in the more touristy spots.
Next stop…Fredericksburg!
